Accelerating emergency response through a streamlined data insights platform

Data Analytics

Netlight has been part of building Displacement Watch, a centralised analytics platform together with the World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator. The tool uses displacement data to generate statistical and qualitative information about people forced to leave their homes due to conflict, violence, persecution, climate change, or natural disasters. This data is crucial for understanding the scale of forced migration and its impact on food security, poverty, and access to basic needs. The platform transforms the landscape of available displacement data, serving as a one-stop shop for conflict analysts seeking insights on diverse data sources. Displacement Watch creates broad accessibility, reduces manual workload, and enables a quicker and more informed decision-making process. Scroll down to Impact Stories below to learn more.

Enabling AI-driven innovation: building a scalable sandbox for WFP’s humanitarian efforts

AI
Sandbox

Together with the World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator, a dedicated team has designed and developed an AI Sandbox – a flexible and scalable cloud-based testing environment for AI-driven innovations. By evaluating existing solutions, mapping domain models and processes as well as implementing them, Netlight built a business plan for WFP, fostering active engagement. This laid the foundation of creating an innovative and sustainable AI environment that enables future AI-driven initiatives and strengthens WFP’s ability to deliver effective humanitarian aid and development efforts. The AI Sandbox creates a responsible, safe environment for development of humanitarian use cases that are bringing efficiency and effectiveness gains to World Food Programme's operations.

Using Machine Learning and Computer Vision to enhance the smart agricultural industry

Machine Learning
Computer Vision

The start-up Karevo was part of our mentoring and acceleration programme. Karevo aims to enhance and automate potato sorting for small and medium-sized farmers. By utilising cutting-edge computer vision models, data annotation and augmentation, we have implemented a model-training pipeline and an inference pipeline capable of detecting and classifying defective potatoes. The Netlight team provided training sessions in machine learning and agile product management to guarantee the further development of the project. As a result, the start-up has managed to reduce manual labour and increase the accuracy of the sorting process. Learn more under Impact Stories below.

Startup
GenAI

The german based start-up focuses on building a platform for companies to easily generate compliant CRSD reports for the upcoming EU legislation. The company's vision to automate CSRD report generation using GenAI faced obstacles in technical feasibility as well as addressing actual customer needs. Netlight has supported with overcoming these challenges by focusing on product management, GenAI, and web development. By doing a thorough market research, competitor analysis, and educating in user-centric thinking a proper market niche was found. By also outlining and challenging the GenAI solution designs, a technical prototype with an architecture was implemented allowing better for better customer interview and feedback iterations.
